(may include imported parts) Class 3 Trailer Hitch: The CURT class 3 trailer hitch is the most common type of trailer hitch installed on full-size pickup trucks and SUVs. It is also popular on crossovers and mid-size trucks. That is because the class 3 packs the punch of a heavyweight hitch while still staying light on its feet. CURT class 3 hitches range in gross trailer weight capacity from 3,500 lbs. to an impressive 8,000 lbs. and offer a comparable tongue weight capacity ranging from 350 to 800 lbs. These hitches are engineered to be strong and capable, having a quality steel frame in round tube or square tube form. Class 3 trailer hitches are able to tow most standard size trailers, including utility trailer, boat trailers, campers, single-horse livestock trailers and trailers designed to haul ATVs, personal watercraft, snowmobiles and other similar recreational vehicles. This type of hitch uses a 2 inch x 2 inch receiver tube opening to accept a ball mount or towing accessory with an equivalent shank. This is where CURT's custom vehicle-to-trailer wiring harnesses come into play. Custom wiring harnesses plug into your vehicle's electrical system using original equipment (OEM) connectors. Leading the industry in towing electrical products, CURT offers two options for custom vehicle-to-trailer wiring. Their custom wiring harnesses use two or more OEM connectors to plug into your vehicle's electrical system, typically at the tail light housing. The harness provides an additional connector in the form of a 4-way or 5-way socket that branches off to allow the trailer to be plugged into the vehicle's power system. The other custom wiring option is their custom wiring connectors. These use a single original equipment connector to plug into a specific socket provided by the vehicle. Automotive manufacturers design some vehicles to be easily equipped for towing by supplying a socket, integrated into the vehicle's electrical system, to readily accept a custom wiring connector. It features a standard receiver hitch shank, a multi-level channel and a standardized trailer ball attachment, allowing you to easily tow various types of trailer without requiring you to keep an arsenal of ball mounts on hand. It also features a highly durable construction built to withstand the elements, and built-in anti-rattle features for smooth, quiet towing. The dual-ball head of this channel mount offers versatile towing options. It features standard 2" and 2-5/16" diameter trailer balls to fit two different size trailer couplers. The entire head securely attaches to the adjustable shank using the included hitch pins and clips, and these hitch pins can also be replaced with a hitch lock set for additional security. This adjustable channel mount comes with a 2" shank to fit any 2" x 2" receiver hitch. The shank has two hitch pin holes to adjust the length of the ball mount from 11" to 12". This provides extra clearance, as needed, for the rear bumper, a spare tire or other obstructions. The channel mount is set with a series of vertical holes to mount the included dual-ball. The holes are spaced 1" apart, allowing the ball mount to perfectly suit the trailer for smooth, stable towing. This channel mount offers a maximum drop of 6", and it can also flipped for a maximum rise of 5-1/4". This model is constructed from high-strength forged steel and rated for a maximum gross trailer weight capacity of 10,000 lbs. for the 2" ball and 14,000 lbs. for the 2-5/16" ball. Hitch Lock: Make your tow vehicle and trailer more secure by keeping them locked up tight with a CURT hitch lock. Like a hitch pin and clip, a hitch lock is designed to insert into the fastener hole in the side of a receiver tube in order to hold a ball mount or hitch-mounted accessory in place. While a CURT hitch pin does offer sufficient strength for keeping your ball mount firmly attached, a CURT hitch lock goes one step further. CURT hitch locks allow you to lock your ball mount into your trailer hitch, deterring theft and preventing anyone from detaching your trailer at the ball mount and towing away your property without your permission. This CURT hitch lock features a deadbolt design and comes with a 5/8" pin diameter to fit a 2", 2-1/2" or 3" receiver tube size. CURT deadbolt hitch locks have a solid, square-shaped lock mechanism and a bent handle for easier gripping. They are key-operated and activate with a simple 1/4-turn. They also come with a watertight dust cap to keep out the elements and prevent corrosion.
